I am trying to replace the blower moter on a "69 Elky 307. It has AC with the larger unit on the engine side of the firewall. I have loosened the fender skirt but cant get it off, it seems to be spot welded at the front. Is that possible.

The manual I have also says to disconnect the fan (blades) from the motor and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this before removing the motor unless it has to be done from the inside.

I also (even if I do get the fender skirt off don't have any directions on how to get the motor from the unit. From what I can see there are several bolts connecting it to the AC unit and ????? well anyone want to give this a stab I would appreciate it - the car is up on ramps now. HELP thanks.

I replace the blower motor on my 70 Chevelle 350 with A/C a while ago but here's the way it goes.

You should able able to remove all but the two front bolts on the inner fender to get enough clearence to get to the blower motor.

The bolts that hold the front down are underneath the battery tray. They should not be spot welded because the inner is supposed to be removeable.

In my opinion, you might as well pull the battery tray, and remove all the bolts on the inner fender. If you take the front wheel off, it will be easier to drop the inner fender.

Once you clear the inner fender there are 3 bolts holding the flange of the motor down, 1 90 degree elbow air fitting and one wire plug. The fan cage is removed after you pull the motor. The squirrel cage is bolted to the end of the motor shaft. Remove the end nut while holding the squirrel cage. The cage goes on/off 1 way.

Make sure you got a motor for A/C because it has more power than the non a/c motor.

Might wanna get the inner cleaned up and painted while it's out. Replacing the spark plugs and the exhaust manifold (or header) gasket with the inner out is a breeze as well.

Hope you get it.
