68Elkie

I refurbished my heater box and am putting in new firewall insulation in my 68 Elkie. I see that there are two vacuum lines that enter the car through the firewall (both were cut off.) First question - can both of these be connected to the same fitting on the engine? Second - where do they connect to the heater box and/or Htr/AC control?
Thanks.

Don't know for sure about your '68, but my '71 Sprint has two lines, one (the black one) goes to vacuum source, the other (with white stripe) goes to the control on the heater hose. I suppose you could hook up the one to vacuum and plug the other and be okay...

Your best bet would be to get your hands on the shop manual for your year of Chevelle. The vacuum routing diagrams are in there. They sometimes change from year to year, so the exact year manual is better. The general rule is that the vacuum is applied to the water valve (shuts off flow) when the AC door gets the signal to open.

on 71 ss chevelle the black line goes from manifold vac port to the round black vac pot on the firewall and then in through the firewall. the black with the white line goes fron the hot water shot off valve right into the fire wall. hope this helps.
