I've had my car run for a long, constant time but it never seems to heat. It blows out room temp air but not hot. What do I need to fix?
Thanks,

sometimes there is a vacuum pot/switch located on one of the hoses to the heater core. Make sure this is opening. If it isnt, there isnt any hot water getting to your heater core, which would explain why you wont get heat.

Find the vac pot, disconnect the small hose to it. Take a long vaccum hose, and connect this to any vacuum source (ie manifold vac).
You can also bypass this hose for the winter by buying a 5' heater hose and just connecting as if the switch wasnt there.

I hope this all made sense and it helps you out http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Ryan is correct. That "switch" he refers to is also called the heater control valve. Most parts stores should have it if you need to replace it.

I'm sure you have checked it but make sure the radiator is full of coolant. The heater won't work well(or at all) if the level is 3/4 or less.

The '72 does not use a heater cntrol valve if it is close to stock. You may have a plugged heater core. Reverse flushing it would be the first thing to try, I suspect.

Everything besides parts on the engine is stock. I'll try flushing it.
Thanks
