--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 69' 396/375hp I bought for my 69' malibu.
Along with the engine the guy gave me a box of "extra parts" which included a water pump.
My question is,can anyone tell me if this pump will accomadate all my brackets,PS,ATL etc? The numbers on the pump are as follows:
1/24/8 which I will "assume"is Jan,24,1968?
The part # is GM3 3931065 T.

I've tried to look it up in other resouces only to find block, heads, intakes, and exhuast manifold numbers ,with nothing on water pumps.

The other engine (small block)is still in the car and I would like to find this out, without having to pull the parts off it and trying to bolt everything up at this point.

Any input on this subject would be MUCH appericated. Thanks Harry

P.S. Did they make a long w/pump in 68? Because this one sits about 2 inches off the timing chain cover, and if it will work with my brackets I'd like to use it.

AC, Can't help you with that Part #, Is that Pump new? I wouldn't risk using a used pump on a rebuild. A good parts store should be able to hook you up with the correct one for your application, I got one for my 69, which I believe is the proper one for your car. Don't think it was much coin from what I remember, $40. maybe http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

Mine is a long water pump like yours with PS, looking at that front it has a boss on the right (between the holes that bolt to the block) that is about an inch off the block that accepts the PS bracket, (I have the 3 piece GM brackets from H@ll BTW.)
To the left of the hose nipples there is an ear for the top alt. bracket. Then the two holes that bolt to the block has the bottom alt. bracket. If that helps any.

Just from your post it kind of sounds like you are planning to use your small block accessory mounts on your BB? This won't work, you need a BB specific alternator and ps bracket.

Now do I need brackets strictly for 69 or will any BB long water pump brackets work for the PS and ALT as long as they match the damper pullies?
