...that pops up when you connect an USB device has all of a sudden quit working. It's the WinXP menu where you can choose between downloading or viewing pictures etc when you connect a digital camera, but I just don't remember what it's called. It used to come up everytime I plugged in the camera, and allowed me to name all the pictures when downloading, choose if I wanted to delete them from the camera etc.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and is there any way to manually start that program? I would like to do it manually, as my wife wants to hook up her new PDA without having to go through that window (she probably clicked "always perform the selected action" or whatever it used to say).

I think you are talking about an autoplay feature. With the camera plugged in, go to My Computer. It should show up as a removable drive. Right click the drive it appears as, and select "Properties", and see if there is an Autoplay tab with settings. It should have a box that you check so that you are prompted to choose an action.

Thanks Gene, "autoplay" is exactly the feature I'm looking for! It used to come up automatically, but won't do it anymore. I tried to check and uncheck the box where it says "always do the selected action", but it still won't do it. It works to do what you said though, that's good enough for right now. Thanks again!

check your usb settings and entries in device manager. You may have something splatted down there.
