: Fan failure warning, but fan works fine?!?!?

When I try to boot up I get a warning: "Ventilator fan failure: pc may overheat", then it tells me to hit F1 and enter setup. When I do that, I still can't get it to boot properly.

Problem is, both fans seem to be working fine. Any tips? It's a HP Pavillion model.

Thanks!
Mike

If you are sure your fan is turning at high enough rpm then you can disable the warning feature in the bios or lower the threshold. It would be safer though to get a new fan.

Even when I select "ignore" for both fans in the fan monitor section, it still won't boot.... Is this different than disabling the warning feature??

No, that should do it. I don't know your bios though there might be a second option somewhere. Try switching of the whole hardware monitoring just to see if that makes any difference (if your bios lets you).

I took it apart for the second time today. It boots fine now. Might have been a loose/broken wire somewhere. Just hope it stays fixed! :D

could have been a seating issue. I would maybe update your bios etc just incase it is the reason the errors are occuring.
