: Kodak to cd burner compatability

After months of having a bad disc drive I purchased a DVDCDRW for my Gateway. It is a LiteOn DVDRW-SOHW1633s. Now I find out that the Kodak software does not support this drive graemlins/angry.gif . I have checked the Kodak Easyshare website for upgrades, but none include the model of burner I have. I need to burn my photos to a disc and get them developed. Are there any alternate ways to do this? Are there any ways to get my Kodak software to recognize my burner?
Thanks,
Rob

is this camera software(kodak) or burner software? If it is camera software just upload it and then burn it from the folder you upload it to. If it is burner software then just go out and buy some newer software.

Your photos should be in a folder and accessable under Windows Explorer. The Easy Share software from Kodak shouldn't have anything to do with it. I stopped using Easy Share altogether...I just plug in my Kodak camera and set the default to open Explorer instead.

Thanks for the replies. My problem is two-fold as I have been searching throughout my computer this weekend. Easyshare doesn't list this model disc drive- sent them an e-mail for possible upgrades. Then adaptec cd creator doesn't list it either. Something may have gone haywire in the install as explorer doesn't recognize it. The DVD player portion works fine, it will play music cd's, it just isn't being recognized as a re-write. I don't have a lot of time to spend hunting through all my programs, and I'm not too computer literate, but do what I can when I can. I'll post if easyshare comes up with a fix. I just want my photo's on a disk so I can dump everything and start over. In the meantime if there are any other suggestions please post. I don't want to have to get another driver as I really can't afford it right now.

Should have come with a limited version of Nero software. You don't mention the OS or how new/old your Gateway is...could you have an early version of Windows (98, ME, etc) or an early Gateway BIOS that might not recognize a DVD burner?

Hey Dale,
Sorry the OS is windows ME, the burner came with Cyberlink Power DVD 5, which is a Nero product I believe. My computer will play the DVD's, it just won't recognize the CD/RW format. When I loaded the hardware disk and my computer restarted, it came up in the black screen with "could not complete download from %1 to %2" which i'm sure is a lot of my problem. Kodak emailed back suggestions which came down to waiting for them to update my driver model into their supported software list. Adaptec has been bought out by another company and the website isn't too easy to navigate. I started looking at microsofts webpages for possible upgrades last night. My computer is at about 68% capacity in the memory, so I don't want useless downloads right now, just want these pics on a disk so I can dump everything. I guess my next option is to find someone with an external burner to plug in and load them that way.

Did you try a different brand of cdr disc? Sometimes the problem is the type of recording format. I have had some some brands that my burner just wouldn't burn to. It would tell me unknown media type or no media.

I took the dvdrw/cdrw back and got two seperate drivers. The dvd driver is play only which is what I wanted in the first place. The cdrw is a model # supported by Kodak, just need to upgrade my kodak software to 4.0 and it should work. Thanks for the help. The comp geek behind the counter said that my ME OS is outdated and that I should upgrade, thats fine, but I have no interest is dumping more money into this PC right now. Besides isn't everything outdated the minute its paid for.
