I want to get EVERYTHING off of it now while its still in operation. Each time I try and move from website to website, it takes a very long time to do anything, and the hard drives sounds like someone rattling a can full of nails around  . It doesn't take much for me to know that this things going down like the Titanic, so before it takes its final bow, I want to take everything off right now.

What is the best type of external HDD avaliable that will allow me to do this with simply the use of a USB cable? Any recommendations? smile.gif

This is one that I'm considering http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64462&item=5136120973&rd=1

That's looks like an internal HD with a HD-controller card. That will work, but for an external drive, I use the Maxtor 5000LE's and they work great. You don't need to install any of Maxtors software either, just plug it in and XP will recognize it as a mass storage devicw, and you can drag your folders onto it using explorer.

Buy a cheap cd burner and save your files on cds. If you are running Win 98 or ME you could have issues with a usb external HDD setup.
