Just bought a Linksys Wireless/Cable router (can do both) for my house when I'm here. It comes with a wireless card (not USB...PCIMIA or something). When it's in my speakers are always kind of buzzing, and when its out they're fine. This is regardless of if there is sound playing or not. I can tell they're related...but is this normal? Thanks..

I cannot believe you posted this!!!I have been trying to solve this mystery on my lcd tv i use as a pc monitor.I always have a buzz in the speakers even when the volume has been turned down.Been on the phone with dell a million times on it.He says interference with the outlet or speaker problem.i was told i had too many plugs in the same wall socket.Never thought it could be the wireless router ,i also have a linksys wireless router[speakers sound like someones using an electric razor in the next room]....Thanks for making my day ! Ive also been told to get an item that boosts the signal strength of the wireless adapter as my signal fades in and out, they also said that might also fix the buzzing...

Taylor,
I have had the Lynksys setup for over a year and have had no problems. I know this will sound crazy, but try reversing the power plug (or ac adapter) for the speakers and see if that helps.

It's radio interference. Move the spaker or router farther away smile.gif .

Ah...whoopsies...I forgot to mention the most important part...this is on a laptop, so speakers are integrated.

But I guess it still makes sense...the router itself is quite close to the speakers in my brothers room...must be it. I'll try it, thanks!

If the speakers are integrated it may be hard to resolve. The issue is very much like putting speakers to close to monitors. Sometimes they will exhibit issues due to the emf. Your issue is similar to emf it not emf from the frequency being used. You might play with your volume settings to see if you can kind of hide it or get it to a level that doesn't seem so severe. I can't think of any fix right off my head unless they use a different frequency but even then the emf will likely be there. Moving the receiver/linksys hub might help.

I can tell my cell phone is going to ring. Radio interference causes a buzz in the pc speakers before the phone starts ringing.
