I have had my webpage with Homestead for a little while but now they are saying that my free page is no longer welcome if i am not paying for the space, to many free ones out there, so i guess this means i will pack up,
My question is how do i save my entire website to my HD to download to a new website...
I do know that i have to save it page by page but i tried useing the file/save feature in IE but no go, some it will save but some wont, but none have the pics...

Any ideas will save me alot of time redoing my site Thanks Darryl

If they allow FTP ?
that would probably be the easy way otherwise I guess you will have to save every individual file to a folder on your HD
Make a new folder - right click on every picture and save it to that folder
click on "View" -"source" and then hit "ctrl" and "A" keys and then "ctrl" and "C" keys to save the html source of other pages, then open a word program and hit the "ctrl" and "V" keys to paste it and save it to the new folder as what ever you want to name it

Maybe there is an easier way if you ask their tech help ? ?

Unfortunately, unless you developed the entire website by hand with standard html, it probably will not be transferable as is. Obviously you can copy pictures, etc., but the code itself is not reusable. I do not know about Homestead, but I assume that it's similar to Yahoo which uses their own (proprietary) page builder software. By the way - I believe that Geocities, through Yahoo is still providing free web site space (25Mb).

Darryl,

You are on the right track with the <File><Save As> I have done it several times. You'll end up with the html code and the graphics. They may not work properly on your hard drive as they were written for the server they are currently on. It is better to have everything than start completely over though. The graphics may end up in a sub folder next to the html code files.

You can also do a <right click><view source> to just save your code. Just do a <save as> and put it in the folder you want and give it a file name. It will also work for each graphic but will take a long while...

I believe homestead does allow FTP.. even if you created the page using the homestead page builder it will work.. just make sure too remove any homestead pointers in the html.. FTP will be easyer and faster for you.. I'm sure homestead has a help file on how too FTP and upload/download from your site..
