: Sacramento TNT drags
bigblockelky Dec 16th, 04, 1:47 PM good idea craig, ill pull the intake tonight,i got a few quotes from machine shops, from every place ive called im getting 1500-3,000+ for a basic rebuild with decent parts its twords and over $2k, im not putting a stocker back in there so it looks like wherever i go if i have to its gonna be over $2k, all i want really is to make sure its all built right and buttoned up by the swap meet oktoberfest. im pretty sure ill need some help putting it back in and getting it running, i can yank the thing out but all the details of putting it back give me a headache..lol
1966_L78 Dec 16th, 04, 4:11 PM i did a little tiny burnout... a few blocks later leaving the light ( in drive granny style.. nice and easy) Sure, thats how all my motors seem to blow up (honestly!) ;)
Are you guys still whoring this thread?! :D
bigblockelky Dec 16th, 04, 9:24 PM whorin it up!!. will be for awhile now since i cant be out driving
Gokou Dec 16th, 04, 9:51 PM Walt @ Performance Machine in Manteca is a great guy. My dad drove his blown alcohol hydro for years (200+ on the water anyone?) He's rebuilt the engine in my brother's Elky, and did the machine work for the engine in our '65 396 Vette, along with countless others for us and friends.
Nice guy who does nice work and is very knowledgeable.
About the only other guy I would trust in this area is Panella Racing, but again, I'm a bit biased as he's another friend of mine. Very good group of guys working there too with a lot of high-end experience; that's about all they do.
Troy
bigblockelky Dec 16th, 04, 10:25 PM well with 2 references i think they will be getting my business, the motors ready to come out, everything is unbolted i just ran out of daylight, ill be giving performance machine a call tommarow. hey maybe we can have a TC get together and put my motor back in..lol witht eh powerplant out i have alot of work to do in the engine bay,i want ti to look nice when its done.. its pretty ghetto rigged right now.
THORSS70 Dec 17th, 04, 12:18 AM I hope he does not get upset for me talking about his internals, but Jay has a flat tappet cam in there, not roller. Which keeps the costs way down, perfect for putting more money into a stout shortblock I say.
A nice matched hyd (or solid, my choice) cam, a set of hypers for pistons, and some clean machine work, Jay is well on his way to 12 second timeslips on the street. Well, that's what I thought too, but hey tongue.gif
Jay, if you are to use Walt, think about getting the longblock into him soon. He may take a few weeks to do the work, but if you know it will be right the first time, well worth the wait. The next BBQ/Octoberfest will be in 6 weeks, so let's get that sucker movin'

kinzli Dec 17th, 04, 12:31 AM Once this thread gets to 300 posts, or 20 pages, maybe we should start an Oktoberfest thread to pull another 300 posts graemlins/hurray.gif

So on that note......
sobever066 Dec 19th, 04, 10:12 PM Where's that beer Jeff? That beer was pretty tasty.
kinzli Dec 19th, 04, 10:14 PM Erwin, stop on by some time, I've got a little RazWheat left, and some Duvel on tap as well (but that's 10% so plan on sticking around a while after a pint or two) smile.gif graemlins/beers.gif

Now that you mention it I'm thinking maybe you cut that waterpump gasket out yourself to try and save face. :D Or moved that alternator to make it throw belts all day. I see your game here mister ;)
Sorry just making useless posts to keep myself entertained and trying to think of other things. Not to mention I figured I could contribute more to the 300 post count. :D
70 Elco Joe Dec 21st, 04, 11:53 AM I am the thread killer!!!! woohoo!!!

I think everyone should post their OWN ET's ;) Well, mine ran on BFG ta's and mustered up a 2.1 60, and a 13.05 at 105.95 mph. Something is not right, and I will be doing some troubleshooting after the first of the year. Strong street car, but a poor performer at the track for now.

Jeff, if I don't buy some tires before the next time we go, yes I would love to have them bolted on the car. It won't be for at least Febuary before we go again, hope you can make it down this next time.
bigblockelky Dec 23rd, 04, 1:30 PM thats what i was going to post about.. when are we going again. the way all of my engine dreams are comign together this things gonna haul @$$ assuming i can get it to the ground, ive got a set of steel wheels now to slap some slicks on so ill be ready for punishing the pavement. if i have the cash ill finish get my nitrous system and be running a 125 shot too. craig, if you want to get tires the guy at wholesale tire and wheel said hed give us a good deal on a coupel or more pairs if we order at the same time, hes on lander if you want to go over there in the next few weeks let em know and well go together.

Craig are you getting taller, what are you 6'9? Yes, 6-9 and big too. I should have put Al in the seat of the car, it would have run a 12.90 for sure tongue.gif

Probably @ Kool April Nites in Redding (if it doesn't rain). Sacramento's $45 entry is too steep (with gas, I'm over $100). I'll add that to my KAN budget ;) . Plus, I haven't done jack to the car since last April. Except for the rear-end, the powertrain has remained the same since Jan. 2000. I'll try and hit 12.90s with tires and tuning. If that happens, I'll swap to a higher stall converter, solid-lifer cam, and see where that takes me. Currently, I'm concentrated on getting my boat dialed-in for this summer
Have you had your car at the track lately?
Rick Bandy Jan 14th, 05, 11:36 PM Hey guys when is the next TNT?
THORSS70 Jan 15th, 05, 11:28 AM We will probably bring this up when we all get together at the end of the month.
dittoz Jan 17th, 05, 6:12 PM Hey... I'm 6'4, fixin' a Chevelle and drink good beer - that count for anything?

Too bad I won't be around for the swap this weekend... Happy Birthday Tony!! Open up the Summit Racing catalog and pick any one part smile.gif . Tell your wife that's what you'd like for your present! Oh, and did you see Summit now has the ZZ572 Crate motor ready to ship. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
1966_L78 Jan 24th, 05, 1:42 PM Yeah, My wife asked me to circle stuff in the catalog, and I went right for the crate engines... Of course, she'd like a big ol' 3-stone ring, and I'd like to avoid that expense...
sobever066 Jan 24th, 05, 11:46 PM Don't forget about the 4 link either Tony ;) .

Sucks getting older....eh, at least I have more money to spend right?
1966_L78 Jan 26th, 05, 12:57 PM Sucks getting older....eh, at least I have more money to spend right? It sure does suck...
Inside, I feel like I am still 18, outside the knees ache, sometimes the back, the hairs thinning...
More money? true, but now there's those responsibilities to think about (kids, house payments, etc... Of course, I have come to the realization that I still have enough saved for the kids and expenses, that I could look for another project (which I don't need)...
#292???
Alan Jan 26th, 05, 5:06 PM But high schools chicks man. Know what I love about high school chicks? I keep getting older and they stay the same age ;) .
My hair started thinning, so I just shaved it. Best thing I ever did for my hair! Saved over $60 in hair cuts since last May.
You guys ain't THAT old. Well, maybe Craig, he's about to fall over the hill tongue.gif
The old I get, the better I was...
THORSS70 Jan 27th, 05, 12:13 AM Ya shoot darnit, I am 40 this year. Feel it sometimes too. I do feel 21 inside though, that's what matters. Oh, and tons of debt :D
Ahh, the older I get, the younger high school girls seem to look. They are kids to me....mostly ;) Seen some of these 16-18 year olds? Yikes.
Project Tony? I'm right in the middle of 2, it will never end, never. Keeps us young, and beer. Well, maybe too much beer, that's where the good ideas come from... graemlins/beers.gif
