Did anyone at the BBQ get a still picture of Anthony's burn out? I would love it as a screen saver.

I usually just save it to My Pictures and then hit start/settings/control panel/display and then browse the background until you find the file you want.

i saw the marks on the road today.. that was pretty cool im sure.. funny how a-body owners usually have a host of burnouts in front of thier houses and the neighbors give other a-bodys passing by dirty looks..lol

Who drives the farthest? This event sounds so great, that I am almost willing to drive there. I live in Signal Hill/Long Beach.

You would definitely be the farthest driver for this one. If I remeber right most of the guys that drove a ways were from the Bay Area or Santa Cruz area. I cant say anything I'm only 20 miles away ;) It was definitely a lot of fun and probably would have been even better if I could have stayed longer. Definitely a fun bunch of guys to hang out with, and the swap had a lot of good stuff too.

I try to make it when I can from Santa Cruz, which is about 130 miles away. Extremely well worth the drive! graemlins/beers.gif

You guys are great, thanks Jeff for the pic it looks less dramatic without engine noise :D

Troy, Castle would be awesome

Castle is an air museum in Atwater, has some of the finest warbirds around the area on display ouside in a large field. A big parking lot as well, you can see the cars from almost anywhere that we are walking. Good idea, and we all could go back to the house or hit up a pizza joint for a couple of hours afterwards for some chit-chat. There are many open country roads out there as well....

Long Beach would be a trek that's for sure. I grew up in Rossmoor/Seal Beach and that would be a weekend trip for sure. Expect to hit about 5 hours on that one.

Jay, nice talking with you the other day, your ride has some work to do but nothing that you can't handle. I got your phone call too late last night I will call today sometime later if you needed me for anything. It is raining here all day, but still have to get things done.

The next swap meet is the largest one up here in the nor Cal area at the fairgrounds. It is super bowl weekend, Saturday and Sunday. We could all meet at the house and drive in in one car (Jeff's) it makes parking much easier. Unless we are all bringing the cars in...we will post about this in Dec.

thats a cool one too, craigs car sounds great and to see the tire smoke i can imagine what that sounded like.. that poor road is gonna be real happy when craig moves into town.. it looks like it takes a regular thrashing.. i guess we will just have to terrorize the new neighborhoods that they build there.. with all that fresh pavement just asking for open header 1/4 mile passes at 3 am.. muah ha ha ha ha haa.

I'm down for going to the air museum. I gotta check out that SR-71 Blackbird they have. Saw one at the museum of space and flight at Boeing Field in Seattle last year. Bad arse! I love that plane. Let's get this Castle trip on the calendar smile.gif

EKS, you'd be hard core to drive from Long Beach for the swap meet. Worth the trip though. Currently, Kinzli makes the longest trek. I think the Mellows from Pixley might be a close second (or maybe first place).

Kinzli, I saw your post about 2 Live Crew ;) . Rock on! Never would have figured you were a 2 Live Crew fan. hell yeah!

We could do a Castle base meet no problemo. Just name the weekend (preferably a Sunday) it is cheap to get in, like 5 bucks, and plenty of room to roam around and relax. Troy could be the guide for the day, he knows quite a bit on old birds, more than myself that's for sure. Al, they have an SR-71 sitting out front to check out, very facinating aircraft to say the least. I also believe that that certain one is still somewhat active, it could be ready to fly in short notice if needed

Might be interested in the castle museum too. Used to work on Buffs. smile.gif Always dig checkin' out war birds. Got to see the Soesterberg Museum in Holland last month while I was there. Spitfires, P-51, B-26, and some WWI dutch stuff. Very cool. Even a wolfpack F-15 from the USAFE days on display. I felt a little heart pang for it as it was looking a little weathered and unkept sitting outside with an f-105, f-106 and an f-86.

Grandmother worked at Castle for many years. Step grandfather was a flight mechanic in the Air Force there for MANY years (he has since passed). I have spent countless days, weeks and months on that base and know it well. I was present when they flew in that SR71 they have out front (I believe they were attempting to break a flight record from DC to Castle on that run but fell short by less than an hour or so due to winds)

Used to watch b52's, refuelers, F16's, etc. take off from that base all the time. Grams had clearance and man, we used to sit damn near on the runway and watch these guys leave. Her house is juts off the old flilght path and I used to watch them from her backyard. She lives in Winton.

Would be cool to get back there. Havent been in at least 5 years although I pass it all the time.

Is this a rumor or are they actually building a drag strip at Castle. It's only a half hour,if we have the pedal down. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The last time I heard anything on this, there was discrepency because the prison was too close to a public place and they were having a hard time getting the licensing from the county. I need to get my arse to the 1/4 mile club meetings and see what the latest is on this...
