The good news is I'll be there!!! Sending my entry form in first thing in the morning!!!

Bad news is, I'll have to forgo CB 04 because I will have to do a ton of work to get Ole Paint in proper condition for me to show there!!! I expect this will bring in some of the finest Chevy's in each class of the series. I want to have things as good I can get them for this one!

I 'am thinking of bringing my Chevelle down from Pa.. I have beeen to DEI several times but have never taken the Chevelle on that long of a trip. Sounds like their will be several cars already from the club. Also sounds like it should be a good time.

Anyone know a good place to spend the night? Is a 6 hr drive and i dont want to try driving home that late. Only been in that area, Charlotte, for Auto Fair, so am not sure! thanks for any info!

Thanks for the reminder about this car show James. I believe I 'am going to plan on attending. I hope to meet some of you guys there as I do not know anyone in the club. Again it sounds like it should be a good time.

Only changes I saw from my post on this show in Nov. was that the El Caminos will show with the Chevelles and not the trucks (good). And the cost dropped some (better).

I found out that the Hampton Inn in Mooresville (704)660-7700 is the host hotel, although they haven't finalized the rate yet. I just booked a room for 2 for Friday night at the normal rate, $99, but they said I can get the group rate when it's finalized.

BTW, I traded emails and pictures with Steve Crisp, the contact person from DEI. Turns out he's a Chevelle enthusiast, too (has a '70 LS 6 and a '66 El Camino) - and get this -

Chevelles were Sr.'s favorite muscle car, too!! :cool:

Sr bought one from Steve that Sr referred to as "The Skunk", because it was a black '70, with white stripes!! LOL

Not sure I'll be able to look at another black, white stripped '70 without thinking of that story - and Dale Sr.!! :D :(

Hello the DEI show sounds great. Is anyone going from Connecticut or Mass. If so are you driving your Chevelle or trailering it? How about anyone else driving or trailering and do the have space for trucks and trailers?

I checked. There's room both on the DEI property and in the lot of the Hampton Inn in Mooresville. The form you fill out asks about the dimensions of your rig, so they can plan how to park everyone.

Hello all so I take it most guys are trailering there Chevelles to the show???? Anyone from Connecticut driving down?

I will be driving from Harrisburg, Pa early Friday morning. I do not have a trailer. Never drove it anywhere this far but I am really excited about the show.

I noticed you get 2 tickets. Is anyone bringing more than 1 "guest"? I have two who want to go. I was thinking one could go as a spectator but wouldn't be able to go on the tour and sit in on the awards meal. :(

Personally, I'm looking forward to the "Garage-Ma-Hall" tour. I'd like to spend a little extra time at the table where they fab up the restrictor plates!! :D They probably have that area locked up with armed guards!!

Mike -- Any chance you'd be traveling down late on the 18th? We're headed down I79 to 19 to I77. Any chance of hooking up along the way?

I checked the web site and see there are classes for this show.
#1- what are the classes?
Looks like there is an un-restored class, is that correct?
I heard there are still some openings. Registration closes 10 days before the show.

#2-Think I can bring Big Blue without embarrassing myself?

I'm pretty set on going with or without the car- I thought it was just a single class of 100 maxed out show cars.

I believe the cars will be point judged, Stock, Modified and Original/survivor...but just bring it...

Man, I was really excited about this all day, waiting to see if there were still any openings, then talking to Steve, filling out the entry form, and overnighting my entry form/ fee.

I got to tour DEI a few years ago, right after the 600, but it was a regular tourist visit, looking at the cars through the windows.
This is going to be awesome!

Another GREAT Tour in the area is the RCR shops.
Childress turned the old shop into a meseum. I dare you to walk through there with a dry eye.

I'm driving up Friday.

I have a room at the Sleeep INN at exit 36 and since I live in Columbia SC which is only about 100mi away I can leave or stay Saturday night no problem.

Jessie(Jessie66origional)will probably be up early Saturday morning. I'll most likely convoy back with him whenever the time comes.

There's a lot of motels in that area(exit 36)so I expect some of use will meet up Friday evening.

I just booked my room Monday. They still had 4 left for the special DEI Group Rate of $79 plus tax. That's a 4 story Hotel, Pool, Hot tub, fitness center and includes a 12 diff. selection Breakfast Buffet! That's a room with TWO queen size beds. I am only staying Friday night.

I didn't think there was a "host" hotel! I just went with what suited me at exit 36. With the info you gave me I got the $76 rate, it was $99 when I checked on line yesterday.
