Hey all,
Are all the 70s and newer GM 350s the same engine or does Chevy have one, Buick another, Olds another etc.?

I might have a chance at a REALLY cheap non-chevy 350 that I know runs well, but I wouldn't want to waste a bunch of effort on being stupid.

Thanks for the help

Perhaps you ask this question knowing that at some point GM installed Chevrolet engines into non-Chevrolet car lines. Please be advised that the non-Chevy cars with Chevy smallblocks are most commonly 305's rather than the 350 that you seek.

And the 350 GM engines are 3 different brands
Pontiac,Buick,Oldsmobile. The quickest way to id these,is by their valvecovers. The Buick has flat ribbed covers,Pontiac has smooth and large covers, and Olds has more canted and narrower covers.Of these 3 engines, the Olds is the most desirable, due to itīs large bore/shorter stroke ("6" rod),than the other ones mentioned.
