: Head Milling

I am looking at a pair of AFR 195 heads for my stroker. they come with 68cc chambers, which would give me a calculated compression ratio of 9.18:1. The chambers on these are bigger than what i had planned for when building the bottom end, but i dont want to put new pistons in. I had planned for around 9.5-9.8 compression.
Does ayone know how much i would have to get them milled to get a 62cc chamber. This would give me a compression ratio of 9.676.
Does it vary with different manufacturers or what?
Also, i know that if you mill too much off, you will have some problems with the intake manifold ligning up and sealing and what not.
Does anyone have any experience with this or should i just go straight to AFR and ask them?

thanks
-Matt

I'd ask AFR but angle milling might be better than flat milling. Either way you will probably need to mill the intake. On the sheet that came with my Sportsman II heads, it gave the maximum that could be milled and what to expect in chamber size change for a give amount removed. AFR should have this info available.

AFR 2000 master catalouge says... "angle mill-----.008" per cc" "flat mill----- .006" per cc how much you can safely take off is another question.

AFR would the best folks to ask.

Would probably be capable of quite a bit as far as deck thickness goes since they advertise 3/4 inch deck.

thanks guys i took your advice and emailed AFR. They said that they can get the chambers down to 58cc and will correct the intake side so there wont be any manifold problems.
