Al,
I don't know where to find this info, so I'm asking here. I have found a car I am interested in up here in Canada. Here is the VIN they sent me:
1363701553187
It does not look like anything I have in my book "Chevelle SS Restoration Guide."
Can you help decode it?
Thanks,
john

you should post that in the tag team forum for more accurate/more responses.
but from my experience there should be a letter or two in the vin. maybe it is different up in cananda.

I think you should have posted this on "Tag Team" forum..
But here is the answer anyways:
The year is 1970.
The make is Chevrolet.
The model is a Chevelle Malibu 2-door colonnade hardtop coupe.
The motor is a V-8. ( motors are not decodable by VIN.)
It was manufactured in Oshawa, Ont. (Toronto).
The production sequence number is 553187.

If the 7th digit is a 1, then it is a Candaian built car (Oshawa, ON).
check this link for verifying the car's authenticity. http://www.chevelles.com/vvs/index.html
More information can be obtained from the cowl tag (under the hood near the driver's side hinge) Post those #s in the tag team for more info (scroll down from the link you clicked to get into this forum).
