just starting to look over my 69 elkie project, what i plan to do is Pro-Street this one with a BB, turbo 400 and a 9" with a full tub, 4 link setup and end up with about 15x15s under the rear.
Has anyone out there done this on a elkie and if so how did the frame rails work on the back side of the rear? Did you have any bed left? and did you buy the 4 link setup or make it? Plans are to use fuel cell in the bed and battery in whats left of the smugglers box. In all the cars with a 4 link the frame rails usally end up above whats left of the original trunk floor, but if possible i would like to leave as much bed as i can and keep the inset rails under the bed floor. Thanks Darryl

Haven't done one myself, but one shows up in Mesa (Phoenix subburb) at the Pavilions (k-Mart)Saturday night shows. He has plates to uncover the shock mounts so he can jack the car (truck) up and remove a tire. He lets the rear end down on blocks, then jacks the frame up with the shocks disconnected so they will come out of the quarter panel. The frame is cut in only for the tubs. Normal width in front of and behind them. Has a blown BB. Seems like it was a '69 and had coil-overs and a 4-bar setup. He also has fuel cell in the back. Not much room for anything else back there.
