GM stopped making the 1.88 exhaust valves for the 454 and there is a many week backorder on the 2.19 intake valves.

Anyone have a source for these valves? Need 2 each preferably new GM but aftermarket quality valves will do.

Thanks!!!

Try http://www.competitionproducts.com. They sell new GM takeout valves for like $4.00 each. I believe a few members here have used these valves with good success.

Ray,
The GM valves are terribly overpriced and are usually made by Eaton anyway. Any good machine shop should be able to get you valves in a day. Try Ian at Matoon Machine/ Engine Works

I have used the competition products "take out" valves before for street engines and they are fine for the amount you pay for them. I wouldnt want them in a real hot engine, but for stockers they are fine. Great service also.

So what is a "take out" valve? Sounds like something you'd pick up at a drive-thru window with a side order of fries.

I assume a take out valve is a stock valve that comes in a set of heads that are taken out when the heads get done up with different valves. So they're still new, never run valves, just they were taken out of a complete set of heads.
