: CHASSIS DYNO RESULTS!!!

Went to a chassis dyno in Omaha this weekend. I must say it was well worth the $100 (3 runs) to know exactly how much power I'm making. The dyno was a Mustang II dyno which is much more conservative than a dynojet.

382 lb-ft at 3300RPM
323 HP at 5200RPM were the peaks.

Here's a link to the dyno sheets...
Dyno Sheets (http://www.public.iastate.edu/~amcarthu/Dynosheets.html)

Here's my engine specs...
454 (.030 over)
9:1 Compression
Closed Chamber Oval Port Heads (2.19/1.88 valves)
282S Comp Cam (236 deg. duration, .561 lift)
Performer RPM intake
750 Holley
Headers and 3" exhaust

I took my 70 chevelle with similar combo as yours to a chassis dyno, 3 runs for 50 bucks http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif anyways, i got 320 hp and they couldnt give me a torque reading http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif basic combo
454 + 0.030
9.2:1
comp cams magnum 280H
airgap intake
750 dbl pumper
THM400 with B&M holeshot 3000

I ran a best of 13.4 (fan belt fell off) but i typically run 13.5s and this is at Bandimere Speedway...keep in mind, altitude.

take care

LittleCrazy427 - Where did you go in Omaha? Did you like their service? Did you get time to make adjustments/changes between pulls? I'm just an hour away in Lincoln and would like to do the same as you.

Barista,

I went to E.J.'s dyno shop in Omaha. You can schedule a time there anytime during the week, and sometimes on the weekends. It cost me $100 for 3 pulls. No tuning in between as I just wanted a baseline. I could have done some tuning if I chose too tho. Overall, he was very nice, even gave my brother and I a ride to O'Reilly to get a fan belt after my car ate one. I'd recommend him. I will say one thing tho...his dyno is very conservative but he swears it's very accurate...and with the # of customers he has I can't imagine him being bad.

And to do little extrapolating...

My stock LT4 only made 260 HP on same dyno where on a DynoJet it would be very close to 300 HP. With that in mind, the 461 was pumping close to 375 RWHP!

Pretty dang awesome for first time home build one might say!

Don't get too cocky, mine is still quicker... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

you have as flat a torque curve as I have ever seen. It must be great in a car as heavy as yours. I may try your cam I have the exact same combo except a much milder cam. I don't like my set up, you have given me an idea.
