When I bought the car, it never had a wiper motor in it. I put the correct one in for hideaway wipers, but when I turn the wipers off, they jump up about 3 inches onto the windshield. I can push them down manually when the car is shut off, but as soon as I turn on the key, they jump back up. A friend told me yesterday that I probably have the incorrect switch in there. The correct switch he says reverses the wiper motor to pull the wipers down behind the hood. Could this be my problem? Thanks Terry

The switch ONLY provides grounds to the proper functions--i.e. lo speed, hi speed, washer.

All of the magic is done inside the motor mechanism. Make sure you have the plugs connected right and no one has jury rigged the wiring before you had the car. If that checks out good, time for another motor.

Is the car equipped with hidden wiper linkage? The drivers side wiper has an extra link. I could be wrong but I think they were optional.

Nope. you are right. The drivers side has the extra arm.
