i had a 68 ss elky as my daily driver two years ago.
first of all before the snow comes make sure you have good tires, and sand tubes are a good idea. (4x70lbs.)
to make a long story short i found out the hard way. luckily no damage. next day new tires and sand tubes.

I tossed snow tires on my Chevelle last winter and they are waiting in the garage for the first sign of snow this year. I can't tell you what snow tires I have as I got what tho tire place had. Well, almost had. They had 3 and had to drive to a warehouse or another store to get another. No other local place had snow tires to fit my rims.
I'd like to hear if there is a way to protect the car from the salt.
Tim.

Seek and repair all stone chips and scratches. Wax it good. Oil spray is messy but it works. I'd sooner do that than let rust take hold. How's the battery & charging system? Do you need a tune up?
When the enemy hits (road salt) wash it off as soon as practical. Be ready for touch ups in the spring.
I have a pair of 1967 snow tires from my '67 Chevelle. They are 7.75-14 bias and they were made before tread wear indicator bars. Hardly worn. Still I'll let the spiders stay in them...
