I am looking to make a nice street car and I have found a 64 Chevelle SS for sale for a $1,000 bucks. All of the interior is complete and in good shape. All the exterior is in great shape with minimal rust that can be fixed easily. The only bad thing is that it does not have the motor and tranny, which I already have anyway. It also comes with another set of crome pieces for whole car, another trunk lid, hood, fenders, SS emblems, consule, and instrument panel. Is it worth a grand or no???

Thanks to all in advance,

Bryan

If the body and interior are as good as you say, and with all the extra pieces, the only response is BUY IT or post in here where it is available if you don't buy it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

From your description I would say it is worth it even if it weren't an SS. The fact that it doesn't have an engine or trans is a plus for you since it invariably lowers the price the owner would be asking.

Iceman,

Sounds like a great deal. Seeing that you are from CA I believe the rust would be very minor. How's the frame?
Body and paint work can be very expensive so if it doesen't need much you are in good shape. If you already have some good running gear ie. engine and trans, It sounds like a great deal.
Get off the wallet and take it home!

Good Luck,

The frame is excellent, it has been sandblasted and painted. The rust is very minor, and around the quarter wheel wells. Its not even bad enough for patch panels. I do have running gear for it, since I do drag race I have plenty of motors laying around with built up glides. I think I will put a little .60 over 327 in her with 12:1 pistons. And 202 double hump heads on her. That should make a fine street car and be reliable, what do you all think??? Or should I just go with a 355???

Thanks again,

Bryan
