Hi all,
I purchased this El camino ('72) quite a while ago and I'll i do with it is wipe off the dust while it sits in the garage. I bought the car from a guy who was moving and he had to get rid of it. Anyway, the car is really clean and runs. People have offered me cash for it the few times I have driven it. But i have no idea what kind of El camino it is.
The motor (350 small) was rebuilt according to the records I received with the car.
There is no cowl. there are round gauges in the dash (from what people say the dash is from a either another chevelle or I have a SS)
caould any one lead me in the right direction? thanks
Chris

If you can post the VIN, the number attached to the top of the dash in front of the driver.

Also under the hood and on top of the firewall on the drivers side is a metal plate about the size of a credit card riveted in with codes that tell a lot about the car. Try to post it exactly how you see it, also look closely as some of the digits can be misleading if yoiu don't get them correct.

Check the glove box for the warranty plate, its may be still attached to the warranty booklet. Its call a Protect-O-Plate. It has the engine, trans and rear axle codes as well as manf. date and some other facts. Another item that should be looked at real closely.

Post this in the Tag Team section, you will get answers very quickly. With this information we can tell you a lot more about you Elky.

You did not need an SS in order to get gauges. I assume you have actual gauges rather than idiot lights, since that is the only way a non-SS would have come with round gauges. It is possible to have an SS that doesn't have the hood. Does it have SS emblems on the door panels, fenders, etc. It is also possible to have a non-SS with gauges, I have a 71 with factory tach and gauges, buckets, console, etc. But is not an SS. So there is no way to really tell without much more digging.
