I have a 1968 396 that was rebuilt and balanced in 1983 by a professional machine shop. The motor was kept in dry storage and wasn't fired unit recently (I did install new valve springs just in case they weakened). I am trying to ID the pistons. The part number is 2312P and they are supposedly TRW forged units, I want to confirm this. Any help would be appreciated because I am trying to figure out what the compression is on the .030 rebuild with 100cc oval closed chamber heads. I would like to install a blower without changing the pistons if I don't have to. Anyone out there with old parts books?
Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,i came up with this: http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/pistons/
sorry it looks like it is Sealed Power 2312P,
not TRW.

Glenn,
The Sealed Power pistons are TRW pistons with a Sealed Power number on them. TRW made the pistons for GM, Sealed Power and many others. They are all the same except for the part numbers. The 2312P number is an old one. I think I might have an old SpeedPro catalog at the shop that may have them listed. I will try to remember on Monday.

Thanks for the info guys...It gives me a place to start. Now I need to find a specification sheet on this Sealed Power part number.
