My back water cross over on the intake let go and pumped almost all of the antifreeze into the motor! It sat like this for about a week! I didn't know it and fired her up and it sounded like my water pump was making noise. So I checked my radiator and sure enough it was way low. So what do I do? I start her up and start adding mooooore water until she started bucking and snorting so bad I knew I had a problem. Checked the dip stick and sure enough grey oil.
Drained the fluid into a 5 gallon bucket and just about filled it to the brim. Changed the intake gasket and feel I've done my engine a real injustice.
Do you think there is any life left in this 454 with only about 4000 miles on her?

changed oil 3 times with new filters each time and seems to have worked. I still have 70 pounds of oil pressure after its warmed up.

been there!!!, my brother backed my 87 ka5 blazer into the lake a couple years back, it sucked in a 5 gal bucket of water too http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif i just drained it, and flushed the system with new fresh oil 5-6 times and she was good as before, NOW the tranny was another story, i never could get the fluid clear, always was a little cloudy, even after 140 quarts of fluid thru it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif and it did have a little whine in the tranny from then on, but still ran/drove like a champ (i did have to do a LOT more (rebuild FI system, etc. etc. etc.) but it all worked out
