Can anybody tell me what year the Q-jet started being installed with an electric choke?

Thanks
Ken

My Edelbrock manuel has a listing that shows:

Q-Jet series Carburator M4M 1980-89
For 305-454 Chevy/GMC trucks with an electric choke. #1904, 795cfm

Boy, I filled that out like a wal-mart application! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

Any M4M carb (started in about '75) with a hot air style choke can be easily converted to electric choke, using the later model choke parts. The carb bodies are the same. Edelbrock sells a kit (#1932), or junkyard parts are not too hard to find. Look on Cadillacs, or later model Chevys.

I got an eletric choke Q jet from a 80 Monte carlo with a 305. Watch out for computer versions, esp with trucks. If there are any electric plugs on the top or side of the carb you are out of luck. The 3/4 ton HD up trucks should have the non computer stuff Till 89 or so
