Ernest,
A blown head gasket will usually not get oil in the coolant. Generally it is the other way around, coolant will get in the oil. White smoke is usually antifreeze, you should be able to smell it in the exhaust.
Hope this helps,

Is there a sickeningly sweet smell? If so, head gasket, hands down. Sorry man, that always sucks

If you have an automatic trans you could be sucking trany fluid due to a bad trans module. White smoke is not caused by Engine oil, engine oil makes blue smoke. Water will also make white smoke and as suggested could be leaking from a blown head gasket or cracked block or head. Smell it. If the smoke smells sweet it has coolant in it.

I have got to aggree with Joe. If you have an Auto trans it may be the Vaccum Modulator being blown, and engine vaccum is sucking it into the engine. Look at where the hard line for the vaccum source for the trans comes off the intake manifold. Follow that intake runner to the cylinder(s) that it feeds and check the plugs. They would be oil fouled and the Trans would be low on fluid.

My '69 had this problem and it would only smoke the passenger side exaust pipe and only during HIGH vaccum events like coasting with no throttle imput at highway speeds.

It used tons of trans fluid when this happened.
