I got a new GM fan shroud for my 70SS and am trying to decide if it is right or not. I knew the shroud that was on the car before I started the resto wasn't correct, but this is so much smaller that I need to make sure.
Instead of spanning the whole width of the radiator this one screws to the radiator top plate at the outside passenger side and the 3rd hole in, leaving 1/4 of the radiator exposed on the drivers side. Is this right?

That sounds right to me RC. I just went out and checked and there is a 5 inch area that isn't covered by the shroud on the drivers side.
If thats the current Chevrolet one available the part #6261914 should be stamped inside(facing radiator side)on the pass.side of lower shroud. That is for a 4-core radiator.3-core takes a different shroud that is no longer available.

Thanks Steve for checking. Rick, that is the GM part # that I got so I'm good to go. Thanks.
I got mine from a friend off an original LS6 car. It was a little cut up (not much) and he wanted a perfect one for his resto. Mine has the same area uncovered as yours. Sounds right to me. Doesnt make sense, but GM didnt make sense on allot of issues. CHRIS

Sounds like the same thing I'm going thru with my 69. The stock one, avaiable thru aftermarket sources, dosn't cover the entire radiator. There's an un-available piece on the driver's side that I don't have and seems that hardly anybody does. There as rare as chicken teeth. I ordered a 68 big block shroud which covers the entire rad and is a one piece unit. I havn't gotten it yet after 3 WEEKS! But I'll let you know how it works if you're interested.
