My personal opinion Shawn is that the black stipes will just be too dark for the Black Cherry. I think the white stripes would look awesome with that combination, even with the black top.

Just my $.02 worth.

If you want to be factory correct, keep the stripes white.Black Cherry cars never got Black stripes,it was to dark a paint according to the Dealer sales album.
If you don't care about that much correctness, then go ahead and paint them black.I personally think it would look good.By the way where did you get that car from? We had a guy restoring the exact same car in Ill..but gave up and sold it.I was interested in buying it but was to late.Email me the VIN# to see if it matches the paper work I have for it.

SHAWN,
I do not like the stripes, so I leave them off. Period.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, if you want to go back with stripes, the WHITE stripes are the ONLY ones that will work. Period.

That car....1st of all, I'd keep it factory.
2nd of all white WILL look good!
3rd and final, stripes on a 70 SS are almost 99% of the time a must. It give the car a bit more Chevelleness.

Uh oh, now there's two Shawn's on TC, and this one's got the same last initial as me!
Anyway, I'd go with the white stripes.

I've seen Black Cherry w/white stripes. Its gorgeous and the beauty is, it will be awhile before you see another one. Of course after other people see yours, you'll start seeing it all the time.

I just passed a pic of that color combo in a parts catalog recently. I think it was in the Ground Up catalog. And man oh man does it look sweet with white stripes.

I vote white also. I saw on that had white stripes with a black vinyl roof and thought it looked good.

Be different- use silver stripes.

A buddy has silver ones on his '96 ImpalaSS that is the DCM cherry color(little lighter than yours) and the silver stripes look great.
