I just recieved my manual steering box (scored it on eBay (http://www.ebay.com)) and I was wondering what to use in it, Grease or Gear Oil? What type?

JJ,
Good question...the 71 Chassis Overhaul manual calls for "steering gear lubricant" meeting GM spec 4673 ? The service manual definitely says to NOT use Cahssis Lube. The service manual shows a part number 1051052 for a 13oz container of the GM Steering Gear Lube. This is the amount you are supposed to use. I wonder if the dealer can cross the number to a later one ?
Let us know what you find out,

Yea,Bill
I just checked my 1972 Service manual and it says (underlined) "No lubrication is required for the life of the steering gear". Thats GM spec "Gm 4673M" and to me it says all it needs is 13oz. If you think about it.......it's not really a big box. We'll see.
