Does anyone know the correct color for the 5-spoke 1971 ralley wheels? Any suggestions for brand? I know it's kind of a charcoal grey color. But, I'm looking for the correct paint.

Thanks

I'm not positive but I believe Year One sells it.

I just painted my wheels with the paint from
Year One for 71-72 SS Wheels. Year One part # QP961, which is 32.50/quart. I've got a pic too at http://azonline.com/~jimmy/71-2SSwheel.jpg

The correct color was referred to as Dark Grey. According to Paul Herd's "Chevelle SS Restoration Guide", the codes were (by manufacturer):
DQE-32961 (Ditzler)
71B16 (Rinshed Mason)
9901L (DuPont).
However, my paint supplier (PPG) advises that the foregoing numbers are not currently valid. He was able to cross-reference the number as DCC32961, in PPG.

This paint is extremely low solids (very watery). It will require at least three light coats to cover a properly primered wheel. Avoid the temptation to put it on wet. When it dries, it has very low luster. The correct appearance will look like an old magnesium wheel.

I have the numbers at home. I'll publish later. If it's like the 70-73 Z28 rim the finish will be rough like the American Racing Torques wheel.
