Todd Geisler Jan 28th, 01, 11:37 AM Very few places sell parts for the late model A/G-body Malibu. I have had decent luck finding some parts from www.ECParts.net. (http://www.ECParts.net.) I have been able to buy a grill, emblems, headlight bezels, and westherstripping new. Wheel well trim is completely discontinued, so it will take a search.
It's a shame the aftermarket has drgged their feet in getting started with reporduction parts. Hopefully that will change in the near future.
If you have any questions about the Malibu and your build up, just give me a shout. I have had every bolt in and out of my car. I also have a complete set of factory build/service manuals for the '79 model year.
BTW, if your car is a factory 4 speed, that is one rare car. Very few were produced with manual trans.

BobH Jan 29th, 01, 6:55 AM Year one has recently started gearing up for g-bodys. Most of the the parts i found in the OPG and others were also available from the dealers.
chev64 Jan 29th, 01, 7:38 AM If you have a good parts man at the local Chevy store, you might be surprised what is available.

Todd Geisler Jan 29th, 01, 8:29 AM The really needed stuff is discontinued from GM including:
wheel well trim
outside bright trim
all interior plastic pieces
78-81 dashes
I had spent quite some time working with my local dealer only to find what was needed was now discontinued.
I have bought new from GM:
inner plastic fender wells $65 ea.
proportioning valve $85
headlight bezels $20 ea.
door & trunk lock cylinders
The most common needed restoration items are interior trim panels and exterior bright trim pieces.
BTW, dash pads are available new for '82 and up cars...about $600 bare!
