: anyone have an afco radiator in a '65?

I am having some cooling problems and I want to get a new aluminum radiator. I have heard good things about afco radiators, especially since members get a discount.

I have heard that the radiator they recomend for the 65 is a little small. I have a 283 right now, but I hope to eventually have a 400-450HP small block.

1. What size radiator will fit a '65 and cool a 450HP engine?

2. I have heard I will have to fabricate some brackets. Are these brackets very elaborate? I can probably handle bending bar stock and drilling holes, but not welding or breaking (bending) long sheets.

3. I will be converting from a down flow (passenger side inlet) to a crossflow (driver side inlet) radiator. Is it possible to use a cross flow radiator with a driver's side mount alternator, or will I need to relocate it to the passenger side?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I forget to add,

If you do have an afco radiator, what is the part number.

Thanks,

Anyone?

Also, while i'm here, I have heard that you can take out the metal "spacer" between the front "wall" and the radiator to move the radiator forward. I have heard that this was to make room for the straight six, and the v8s needed the rad farther back to get them closer to the fan.

I am planning on going with a electric fan and would like as much room between the engine and rad as possible.

would this work?

Thanks,
