I am just about to pull the body off my frame. It is a 70 2 door chevelle. I have taken off everything, including doors, windows, interior. If it can be taken off, it is gone. I just need to know an approximate weight on just the body as it will be lifted off. Thanks for any help!!

I suspect less than 500 pounds.

If your going to have the body off the frame and suspended in the air for any amount of time you may want to consider putting the doors back on. It will keep the body from twisting.

When i had my 64 off its frame a few months ago i was amazed how light it was. It definately masses less than a smallblock. I can tell just by trying to push it around. It swung real easy from my hoist.

I had the doors off my Chevelle when I took the body off....but decided to put them back on for support.
I did take the glass out, since I'd heard it stresses it and could crack. Maybe that was just a wives tale, but I did it anyway.
As for hom much it weights...have no clue! But I had the body off mine for two month, supported by 4x4's and concrete blocks and it seemed to work out just fine...
I think there is one or two pictures at my site....www.67-chevelle.com
Good luck!
