Guys I hate to trouble you with non Chevelle questions but I am stuck on this problem. My 84z28,700r4,305,L69 was running fine until it abruptly just died.It seemed to lose all electrical power. If I turn the key absolutely nothing happens. The radio and windows are dead but the interior light has power. The battery reads okay as well as all the fuses in the fuse panel.I disconnected the alternator just to see if power came back, not to try and start it,no change.I caught a smell of something burning when the car quit but cant isolate where it came from.I did have the a/c on at the time and noticed that itn pulled the voltage gauge down a good bit but not into then red zone.I dont know if that is relevent to the problem.Any ideas what to do are greatly welcome.
thanks very much,
Tony

Check the fusible links at the starter motor solenoid, sounds like on of them isn't playing anymore.

Then if one of them is burnt, the bigger question is WHY did it burn. Those things don't just wear out.

It's like the farmer said when his cow died, "It never did that before"! Poor connection, heat, high resistance, corrosion, circuit overload, any combination or all of the things prev listed and probably a few more I forgot to mention. Look for obvious wiring problems like misrouted harnesses that could be chaffed, pinched, or even melted due to contact with engine parts.
