Has anybody used solid copper header gaskets? Hoe well did they work? Do they require frequent tightening?

i used the solid copper gaskets and have not had a bit of leakage. i used them at block and pipe connections. checked them at 1, 10, and 100 hours and have not had any trouble. if you want to see my car it is on the chevelle wagons web site under the 67' listings. jtk, gold member #222

In general, solid copper gaskets are pretty good and can be costly. They do require that the head and block surfaces be fairly flat.

Be careful, there are different types of Copper head gaskets. Make sure you get the embosed type, not the smooth type. These are made of use with blocks or heads that have been O-ringed.
