I found a good buy on a set of fenders for my 70 chevelle, they are off a 70 elky, the books I have show diff part numbers, I need to know if they are the same part and if they will fit. thanks for any info, Steve

Tom Hendricks Sep 19th, 01, 1:53 PM I think the fenders will fit, however the el Camino fender has a slight "flair" at the wheelwell opening that the coupe does not. Seems that I've seen el Camino fenders on Chevelles but I don't know if any additional modifications were needed. 1966_L78 Sep 19th, 01, 2:00 PM Granted I am way out of my element here, but I recall the '70-72 El Camino does not have the "bulging" fenders like the Coupe, etc... FO_FDYFO Nov 21st, 01, 3:51 PM Steve, if you did not get your answer let me clear this up. in 1970, the elky and wagon fenders are the same and different from the 2 dr car and 4 door car which are the same. the elky and wagon fenders do not have the same body lines as the cars. you know how 70 chevelles have like these muscle bulges in the sides of the body. the wagons and elkys were a carry over from the 68 and 69 Chevelle body lines which were pretty bulgeless. in fact to prove it the 68 to 72 elky and wagons are have the same side body lines. the major differences being the head light features on the fenders. the elky/wagon fenders will not line up at the doors with the cars. and yes the elky/wagon fenders do have exposed wheel lips unlike the Chevelle which have flush wheel well lips. take a look at my site www.einstyn.com (http://www.einstyn.com) and you will see pictures of both for comparison. if you can get the elky fenders do it they are worth a lot because they do not repro them. and they are one year specific and there were so few 70 elky's and wagons made compared to chevelles. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif ------------------ 1970 Chevelle 454 Wagons haul A$$ in style!
