69 SS396 car - Can the drivers side exhaust manifold be taken off (for painting) without lifting the engine or removing the steering shaft. I was able to take the passenger manifold off easily, but the drivers side is getting stuck. Any ideas...Thanks

Yes.
Remove the steering shaft bolt on the outer rag joint where the one bolt holds it to the splined shaft.
Then compress the steering shaft into the direction of the firewall.
There is a rubber boot on the shaft that allows this.Once you clear the rag joint area,you can swing the shaft out of your way to allow the Ex.Manifold to be removed.
This is for BigBlock engined cars.
