Is there anyway to convert a 71 radio (Blue) to the correct 70 radio green?

8 track am radio, or should I just sell the 71 radio and look for a 70??

I have a am radio out of a 71 Nova. It appears to be green. The tag also says it is a 71. I'm curious. Jon

I think you will need to change front and back knobs too. Not sure about the face though. Sounds like a good question for the "Clock Doc".

The color hue is the result of blue or green paint paint along the top of the clear plastic face plate. Now, as to what or how to change this paint color, I don't know what to use. I have a 72 AM-FM stereo in my 70 conv and to get the color changed is not worth the hassle to me. I'm just happy to have a good, original GM type radio in the car that works good.

I believe the color of the numbers is also different on the 1969 radios. Green on 1969 then white numbers on 1971 check out the team chevelle radio info page it is very good

Numbers are green on 70 also. Numbers, face plate and an insert all have green tint. It's easy to change the edge lite from blue to green but the numbers are silked screened on.
Try classifieds or swap meets and see if you can find one that is in need of repair. The parts are interchangeable 70-72.
