I have a '71 and am partial to this year http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Of course for awe factor you can't beat a '70 LS6, but you can't beat the rear bumper of the 71.

SSSSSSSeeevvvvven....TEEEEE! SS Which is also what I own, strange how it appears we are picking the year that we have....hmmmmm, ya think others will follow suit? My gut says yyyyup. Although I wouldnt mind owning a Z16, but as we all know, thats 'bout as likely as me trading in my Velle for a 5.0

I think genrally it is the 1970, followed closely by the 1967. As for me I have always been partial to 68's. Given the chance though I would own one from each year including the mid 70's. Gotta love those cool 73-76(?) swivel buckets http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, the most popular WERE
64- 76,890
65- 81,112
66- 72,272
67- 63,006
68- 62,785
69- 87,030
70- 62,372
71- 19,273
72- 24,946
According to the Red Book, the '69 was most popular, of which I have one, a Glacier blue, Blue Vinyl top, Blue interior, SS

although, I think every one would love to have a '70 LS-6
I prefer the 69's and the 67's

I would Jump over 10 LS-6's and 1 Z16 to get at a 1970 Chevelle with L78-/L-89 Aluminm heads in Convertible form with Documents. And make it Gobi Beige with Black stripes with a Credence Clear Water Revival 8Tk tape in the Stereo http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

Most popular? Every show I've been to has more 70's than any other year.

RICK/Mr70 - There's got to be a story there somewhere. Gobi Beige? really?? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif When I was at Duffy's Collectables in Iowa this past May they had just started restoring
a 70 Gobi Beige SS454 LS-5, LOADED car. It had air, 8-track, FM stereo, gages, tach, vinyl top, color keyed belts, EVEN THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS on the fenders. I was there when they found the build sheet behind the driver's door panel. It's probably done and on their showroom floor by now, or sold already.

I think that 70 is the most popular, because that is when the SS started to come out with a 454 instead of the 396 in the previous years.

I like the 68/69 style personnaly, but I don't think that I'm in the majority.

Obviously the '69 SS sold the most, but IMO, the '70 is now the most popular (most desired) followed by the '67. Give me a '69 COPO 427.

As for me, I graduated from high school in '67. It's a flip of the coin as to my favorite '67 or '70, although I own a lowly '67 2 door sedan.
I'll never forget seeing a '70 brochure that had a red SS with black stripes with saddle interior. That has to be one of the best color/trim combinations ever.
At various shows I'd rank numbers by year: '70, '67, '66, '69, '68, '71, '72, '65, and '64.
What do you think?

back in '77 my first car was a '67 chevelle, Got it for fifty bucks, those things were cheap for years after that, '66-'67 were the last to catch on in the popularity contest and look at them now,
Oh well, those were the days

Rick, when I ordered my 70 SS-396 new (Champaign Gold, not Gobe Beige - colors were close I guess) the three tapes I had for it at that time were CCR, Abbey Road and Led Zeppelin.

There's little doubt that today the 70 model is probably the most sought after.

Through my last 15 years of playin with these ole cars I have formed an opinion of which one sell the best so,,I would assume these would be the most popular,,or at least easiest to build to a pretty much original condition and pass on to a worthy new owner that does not wish to go through the aggrivation,,and time to build one,,(they are the smart ones) 1.70 2.67 3.69 4.71 5.66 6.68 dont get me wrong they are all a thing of beauty,,and to each there own,,this is just wat I can attsest to,,,please no hate mails http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif PS let me add also that equipment and color can also make a not so great year more popular than a great year of the wrong color and or equipment,,the order I put them in would be if they were all equiped pretty much the same PSS Yenko's and COPO's I have to leave out cause Ive always been to poor to have one,,but either of one of those would be my personal pick,,(any color http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif )

1970 seems to get the most interest at shows. You can find judges who know the 1970 Chevelles but not many know the other years. I have a 1969 and I can't believe how many incorrect parts I see on 1969 SS Chevelles. Examples are grills, front parking lights, exhaust tips, engine brackets, etc. This is even on cars that were professionally restored.

How about a 69 with a 454, HMMMMM that's what I got, I like em all but only can afford one or I'd have one or two of every year, I'd need a giant pole bilding behind the house, refinace the house, get another job, I can do that!

I admire the '70 in looks followed very closely by a '66 in Copper/Black gut.

I would also comment on how the '70 drives, but since I bought the car over 2 months ago with a basket case engine, I havn't driven it yet.

But today at 5:30 e.s.t. I am picking up the car with a totally rebuilt 396 now rated at 415 hp/450 torque (at 5 G's)on dyno. I'll ammend my post later tonight!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
