Noisey cables usually need to be replaced or re-routed. You can try a litium lube....but probably won't fix your problem. Make sure the cable is routed properly, without sharp bends. If that doesn't work, replace it.

Went through this with my 68 many years ago, and again recently with my 70. I just unhooked the cable at the speedo, pointed the cable straight up and dropped in 8 or 10 drops of a good light weight lube. I let it set for a few hours so the lube could run down the cable. Problem gone, both times.

Is this a new or used cable making noise.
I have seen brand new ones that pushed the speedo drive into th espeed and this resulted in noise and also the inside cable too long and binding upagainst the trans. drive gear.
