I dont think I explained this right last night as I was searching for clues, but I am having trouble finding out what gauges went in the factory tach. other than the tach.
what ever they were they are not there now, and I would like to be educated on this subject of tachometers from factory, I have learned a lot in these forums and I see that Mr. Elree Colby has experience with this stuff and he helps many people, Im stuck! thank you for any help anyone can offer.

Mike there are 4 gauges around the perimeter of 69 tach. This is a one piece unit so I can't forthe life of me figure out how they could be missing? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif
12 O'clock position - gas gauge
3 o'clock - temp gauge
6 o'clock - oil pressure
9 o'clock - voltage meter
All of these gauges are electric.
Cars without the gauge cluster had a gas gauge in the center with idiot lights around the perimeter.
Is this what your tach looks like? http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/tempdashpic2.JPG

yes thats exactly what mine looks like, the fuel is there and works and the temp is there,it doesnt work, and the battery, and oil are missing it is blank!I dont understand myself, thats why I was asking to see if all factory tachs were the same.I did not know it was a one piece unit, that really is strange! Somebody has probably removed those 2 gauges from your setup. All 4 gauges and the tach will unbolt from the backing/mounting plate. The tach face should still have the words Battery and Oil Press above the cutouts for those gauges. If they are blocked off someone made a homemade plt for the backside. I have seen the individual gauges for sale on E-Bay, though not too often. Hope this helps.
