The ignition switch broke on my 70
which has a tilt steering column.
How do you get the switch out?
Thanks for any and all help.

if you mean the ignition tumblers, you will have to pull the steering wheel, if you mean the switch itself, it is on the lower part of the column and you will have to unbolt and lower the column to access it??????

progress has little to do with speed, but lots to do with direction.

The "switch" is actually the tumblers as you describe. After the wheel is off, then what? Is there a hole that I can put something thru to release the spring loaded tab that holds it in?

Thanks for the advice.

Once you get all the parts off (wheel, lock ring, lock plate, turn signal assy etc) you will see a recess just below the rounded area that represents the shape and orientation of the key tumbler assy and at the inner end of the assy. The recess should contain either the 1/8 X 3/8" nylon tooth that you have to depress to pull the lock assy out OR the area will be blanked out and you will have to punch thru the pot metal to access the nylon tooth(use a screw driver...the blank is thin and made to punch thru easily). In either case the tooth is vertical relative to the key assy and you push it towards the front of the car to release the keyswitch.

Good luck
