I know how to get the switch out, but can you remove it with the dash still in the car? Can you get at it with the dash pad off or from underneath? I'd appreciate any helpful tips. Thanks guys.

Bruce, Yes, you can change the ignition switch with the dash in the car. You have to remove and replace from under the dash. It's pretty easy. I've done my 66 this way. Removing the dash pad does not give access to anything.
