: Horn relay and key buzzer for '68
Nathan Abele May 16th, 01, 4:42 PM Does anyone know who carries the horn relay switch and key buzzer box for a '68 El Camino with tilt wheel? This box mounts up in the front near the headlights and controls the use of the horn and key buzzer. I went to the local Chevrolet dealership and they say it is no longer made. Pep Boys has one, but it does not look like the one on my car. Any help is much appriciated!!

John_Muha May 16th, 01, 7:40 PM OPG lists one for a 66/71. Not sure if it is correct. But they want a fripping $52.95 for the thing (1-800-Chevelle).
I'd shop around. Got a used can't-find-anywhere one for a 72 but it's not the same.
Hey, your a Southern California guy. Probably find a used one at one of the pick-a-parts.

Nathan,
I just replaced mine (69). Got it from a local parts house. It's a Borg Warner #R217 Horn Relay & Buzzer Assembly. Bolted up correctly and all. Check around. It was around $25, though!!!

Nathan Abele May 17th, 01, 10:42 PM This weekend i'll be looking around at the local junkyards, hopfully I'll find something. I found out from the local Chevy dealership that the '69-'72 horn relays are different from a '68 in that they are located in the column.

Mine is not "in the column"
it's on the core support

Yep. Mine's up front, too.

You may want to remind your dealer that the 72 horn relays are different than any others. These are not being reproduced. Found a 72 relay for a TC member and sent it to him for pick-a-part's high price of $2.25. Nice guy. He sent me a beer.
Nathan Abele May 19th, 01, 8:16 PM Thanks for the info guys. Another local parts store in the area said exactly what you guys did. The local Chevy dealership (Rally Chevrolet) is not known for their excellent customer service or knowledge, so i don't think that I will going back there for a while....

Swamp68Elky327 May 21st, 01, 1:06 AM I just picked up a new relay for my 68 at AutoZone for $7.39. It's made by GP-Sorensen, part # HR71. Now all I need tto do is figure out how to "un-butcher" my wiring.
