66 Chevelle, Mallory Unilite, 6AL, Super Coil. I've followed the wiring diagram from MSD.

My problem is not getting spark to the distributor during crank. Using a voltmeter I'm actually getting spark as I release the key from crank to on position....as a matter of fact the car even started 2 times while releasing the key from crank to on but has no fire during actual cranking.

What wire gets 12volts to the distributor while cranking? and where does it originate and where does it end?

Thanks, Mark

originally the power came from a bypass wire that was off the starter solenoid. Since you arent using that with the MSD system, you will need to supply a 12v hot line in the start position off the ignition switch. I did this on my 55 chevy by removing the connector from the back of the ignition switch and installing a jumper between the wire that feeds the "S" terminal on the starter and the wire that feeds the ignition coil. That way you have 12v in both start and run positions on the ignition switch. At least I believe that is how I remember I did it, it has been years! :D

Maybe just tie in the wire from the solemnoid "R" terminal back to te MSD ignition wire.

John,

I tried that already....plus it doesn't matter...I tried every wire combination I could think of and even swapped out the unilite module. I will no longer be using the unilite dist. since I yanked it out....literally, plug wires and all (broke some plugs off) and threw it into the empty lot next door.

Thanks anyway, Mark

Can't help if the module is airborn, but the yellow wire from solenoid/starter "R" terminal provides 12 volts as the key is turned to START. That wire, tied together with one from the fuseblock IGN terminal should give you power in START and RUN.
