Help! I have recently purchased a 78 El Camino SS and the tach wants to run backwards.....I thought maybe the needle was placed wrong on the stem but that is not the problem, even without the needle on it still wants to run backwards...Anyone able to help on this?? I think maybe the circuit board is shot and I am going to have to replace the tach, unless someone has a solution to this wayward tach...

Thanks,

Sonny

I'll guess 'cause I've not seen a tach run backwards. Don't see how the tach trigger could cause it. Just a wag but maybe check the ground wire to the tach.

Maybe the wire that goes to the disributor is the wrong one..

Check the wires and see..

Make sure the tach lead is connected to the negative coil lead.
