There is a single brown wire that supplies voltage for the taillights and the license plate light. If you have taillights the problem is in the rear lamp harness or the license light ground. If you don’t have taillights- Check the fuse (bottom 20 Amp). Check for voltage on the brown wire at the dash harness to body harness (under the carpet to the trunk) connection. Check for voltage at the body harness to the rear lamp harness connection.

The dome light is separate. You should always have power on the orange wire, the white wire grounds at either door or at the light switch (rotate the switch knob full ccw) to complete the circuit.

If you remove the wire harness tape you should find the license plate light wire and the taillight wires connected togeather.

they are 2 different circuits. 1 to the sender and the other to the light. the wire thet feeds the light has no power

If your tail lights work than you must have power to the rear. This same wire as stated feeds both the tail lights and the license lamp. Be sure you have a good bare metal ground connection for the test meter. The painted surfaces in the trunk will not work. The license lamp has about a 6" long wire that goes up into the trunk and immediately plugs into the wiring harness. Unplug this connector and check for voltage. If no voltage unwrap the wires of tape as recommended to find the splice.

What I'm saying is that the brown wire that feeds the license plate light is connected to the brown wires that feed the taillights. The fuel tank sender(tan wire) and the left backup light (light green wire) are in one connector. The license plate light (brown) and right backup light (light green) are on another connector.
