I want to check a pair of '70 horns that are off the car. Can I check them by hooking them to a car battery with the car turned off. I was thinking off hooking jumper cables to my car. Connect the negative to horn, then touch the positive to the horn. Is this a good idea?

Tried it myself this weekend, worked like a charm. ( and so did the horns smile.gif

You could do that or touch the bracket to the negetive terminal on a battery and touch a wire to the positive side. That reminds me, I need to go test a couple of horns I have lying around.

Thanks guys, it worked. Well sort of ..., one horn didn't work and the other sounded pretty weak.
