John,
I finally finished the factory gauge and tach installation project I started a couple of months ago.
We had a thread going on gauge trouble shooting. I had determined that my tach was hanging up around 3000 rpm. the oil gauge was inop and my clock was fried.
Sent the gauge cluster and clock to American Classis Restoration Inc... The tach was rebuilt, clock converted to quartz, oil gauge repaired, temp gauge recalibrated and had the amp gauge converted to an volt meter with the face re-silk-screened, (8 ///// 18 volts).
They did a great job.
I installed the complete unit 2 weeks ago and everything works just fine. And looks perfect. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
It was an fun project but got a lot more expensive than planned because of the initial purchase not being in "perfect condition and working order" as was advertised by the seller.
American Classic Restoration Inc., I have since found out have complete units allready restored and available for sale. At a price that would have cost me less in the long run.
And they can change the "redline" on the tach to whatever you need.
Hope this saves someone else a little time and money.
